Privacy Policy

We collect as little as possible: enough to run the game and nothing for advertising. Here's exactly what that means.

Effective October 5, 2026

This policy explains how Dost Backalley ("we" or "us"), the operator of Degen Downs, handles information when you use the Degen Downs website, Discord bot and PP features (the "Service").

What we collect

  • Wallet address. When you connect and sign in with an Algorand wallet, we receive your public wallet address. We never receive your recovery phrase or private keys.
  • Discord profile. If you log in with Discord, we receive your Discord user ID, username and avatar (the "identify" permission only). We don't get your email, messages or server list, and we don't keep Discord's access token. When you link accounts, we store your Discord ID, username and avatar with your wallet address.
  • Game activity. Race entries, results, rewards, daily claims, badges and related transaction IDs, stored so the Game works and can be verified. When you use the Discord bot, Discord sends us your user ID, the server and channel, and the commands and options you use.
  • Technical data. Our hosting providers keep standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type and pages requested) for security and troubleshooting.

Cookies and local storage

We use only what the Service needs to work. There are no advertising or analytics cookies.

  • degen_session: keeps you signed in with your wallet (7 days).
  • degen_discord: remembers your Discord login (7 days).
  • degen_discord_oauth: protects the Discord login from forgery (10 minutes).
  • Local storage in your browser: your connected wallet (saved by the wallet software) and your practice-mode balance and history. These stay on your device.
  • Offline cache: if you install the app, pages are cached on your device so it works offline.

How we use information

  • to sign you in, link your wallet and Discord account, and run races and daily claims;
  • to prevent abuse, such as multiple claims or exploits, and keep the Service secure;
  • to show public features like the leaderboard;
  • to fix problems and improve the Game.

We don't sell your information or use it for advertising.

Public blockchain data

PP transfers, claims and race entries happen on the public Algorand blockchain. Anyone can see wallet addresses, balances and transactions there, and that data is permanent. It can't be edited or deleted by us or anyone else. The leaderboard shows public PP balances, along with names from the NFD (".algo") name service where a wallet has one, and whether a wallet is linked to Discord.

Who we share with

We share information only with the services that run the Game:

  • Vercel (website hosting) and Railway (Discord bot hosting);
  • Supabase (database);
  • Discord (login and the bot);
  • Algorand node and indexer providers (such as Nodely/AlgoNode), which receive wallet addresses and transactions to read and submit them;
  • NFD (name lookups for leaderboard addresses) and Google Fonts (fonts);
  • your chosen wallet provider, under its own privacy policy.

We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the Service and its users.

How long we keep it

Account links and game records are kept while the Service runs, so races stay verifiable and claims stay fair. Unlinking your wallet removes the link from your Discord account. We keep a minimal record so the wallet-change cooldown still applies. Server logs are kept only as long as our hosting providers retain them.

Your choices

  • Sign out and unlink your Discord account at any time from the Link page.
  • Clear cookies and local storage in your browser to remove data stored on your device.
  • Ask us to access, correct or delete the information we hold about you (except public blockchain data) by contacting us through the official Dost Backalley Discord.

Children

The Service is for people aged 18 and older. We don't knowingly collect information from children.

Security

We sign sessions cryptographically, keep secrets on the server and never ask for private keys. No system is perfectly secure, so please protect your wallet and devices.
